A colleague recommended me to a bride and groom looking for a photographer for their intimate rooftop wedding overlooking Pismo Beach, and the timing worked out perfectly, as I was returning to Oakland from the Palm Springs Photo Festival at the time. A family friend had graciously offered their home as a venue and the preparations and ceremony were exquisite. We went to the beach for a moment before dinner to toast the newlyweds and to take some portraits, and I asked if I could descend the stairs first.
