Mariachi Love at Sequoyah Country Club Wedding
My good friends Jamie and Ernesto had a beautiful ceremony at Sequoyah Country Club, nestled in the hills overlooking Oakland. Seems like the ceremony was touching for the mariachi band too.
Mavericks Event Center Coast Guard Wedding
Kimberlee and Tony got married at Mavericks Event Center in Half Moon Bay, CA on Saturday. Everything was a touch late and Tony seemed nervous, but friends rallied around and through traffic and it got warmer.
Bridges Golf Club Wedding, San Ramon, CA
Pao-Chen and Shashank got married last month at The Bridges Golf Club on a gorgeous spring day. It was the second wedding I’ve photographed at The Bridges. There are two reception spaces – this one, for more intimate parties, and a larger room. Both are drenched in sunlight, starting at about an hour before sunset – and it’s a wonderful thing to be able to photograph in such a gorgeous room at the exact time of day when it looks its best. San Francisco City Hall Wedding Portraits
San Francisco City Hall is a beautiful place to take portraits – the building is replete with terrific settings and backgrounds. I was there with Elisa and Fabio, who picked up their marriage license on this day before their wedding next week and asked me to meet them there for some photos of that process in addition to traditional engagement portraits. We lucked out and found the main floor empty of tourists, as the building was in the process of being converted to an event space for the evening. I love coming back and shooting here; it gives me a chance to search for new portrait locations. I’m looking forward to photographing Elisa and Fabio’s North Beach wedding next week.
Pismo Beach Wedding Photographer
A colleague recommended me to a bride and groom looking for a photographer for their intimate rooftop wedding overlooking Pismo Beach, and the timing worked out perfectly, as I was returning to Oakland from the Palm Springs Photo Festival at the time. A family friend had graciously offered their home as a venue and the preparations and ceremony were exquisite. We went to the beach for a moment before dinner to toast the newlyweds and to take some portraits, and I asked if I could descend the stairs first. California’s central coast is nothing short of spectacular, and I’m so thankful to Ashleigh Reddy for recommending me to be their Pismo Beach wedding photographer. San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photographer
Today I’m thankful for the gorgeous ornate doors to San Francisco City Hall, for men in black suits walking in the background, and for the opportunity to formally witness a wedding, in addition to photographing it. It’s always an immense pleasure to be able to bike and take public transit to a wedding. I chose this photo because I love the body language of this couple. I photographed this wedding for http://www.funandfunkyweddings.com/ – you can see more photos here: http://funandfunkyweddingthings.com/blog/2014/6/3/dave-sarahs-san-francisco-city-hall-wedding-photographed-by-morgan. Palace of Fine Arts Engagement Session
Pao-chen and Shashank are getting married today, and asked me to take some engagement photos before their wedding. Rain and travel got in the way and pushed the session back until Wednesday of this week – two days before their wedding – but we had a glorious time photographing at Crissy Field and the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco. I normally wouldn’t photograph in this direction during a Palace of Fine Arts engagement session, with the iconic architectural landmark behind the camera, but the light and the connection were perfect. I’m very much looking forward to documenting their day in San Ramon today – photos to come soon!
Tilden Botanical Garden Wedding
The inimitable Cindi de Channes asked me to capture a wedding with her last summer at the redwood grove in the Tilden Regional Park Botanic Garden. Redwood groves are beautiful places to get married – they can be dark, but when the sunlight shines between the trees, it really sings. This is a moment before the portraits, in a place I thought might collect some nice light after the ceremony. I was fortunate that the detail of the back of the bride’s dress matched the light and the groom’s elegance of body language so perfectly.
Leonard Lake Reserve Wedding
I got to shoot a few weddings last year for Fun and Funky Wedding Photography, including Jo and Fred’s Leonard Lake Reserve wedding. You can see more photos here: http://funandfunkyweddingthings.com/blog/2013/12/6/fred-and-jo-leonard-lake-reserve-wedding-cali but this is my favourite photo from the day. A few of the guests cooled off in the lake, which is one of the abundant reasons to get married at Leonard Lake Reserve, and one of them climbed out, and I was there. You might say this doesn’t look much like a wedding photo, and you’d be right, but the bride and groom wanted a summer camp feel for their wedding day, and I think this fits well.
